The new company will take over the 45,000-square-foot facility that houses Berglund's Discount Automotive Annex at 2621 Lee Highway, Troutville.
In addition to sales, the location will have facilities for training service-department technicians.
Scott-Cooper began in 1952 as Scott-Powell Motor Co. Vance Cooper entered the business in 1967 and renamed the Williamson Road dealership, which specialized in recreational vehicles. Cooper became president in 1980.
Cooper, who said he would continue working as a salesman, sold the dealership to Berglund. Terms were not disclosed.
"This [dealership] is my life, and I'm as anxious to see it expand as the people buying it," Cooper said. "It should be great for Roanoke people, because there will be a large enough selection so they won't have to shop out of town."
"There will be a greater selection than before, with a well-established dealer backing their sales and service," said Bruce Farrell, president of Berglund.
