The Cougars (3-2) erased an 11-point fourth-quarter deficit and tied the score 46-46 on Nancy Sawver's 3-pointer with 16 seconds to play.
After a Mountaineer timeout with seven seconds left, Chapman, who scored 18 points, took an inbounds pass and picked up a foul while driving on the baseline. She hit both ends of a one-and-one.
Chapman was 9-for-11 from the free throw line in the fourth quarter.
The Cougars, who beat Alleghany earlier this season for the first time in 12 years, were led by Sawver's 14 points. Jo Ann Hylton added 13.

Crystal Hubbard scored a game-high 20 points for the Bobcats.

GREENVILLE - The Gladiators shot 1-for-21 against the Fighting Blues' 2-3 zone in the first half and Parry McCluer went on to a non-district rout.
Misty Snider scored 14 points to lead the Blues, who held Riverheads (2-2) to two points in the first half.
