Blacksburg's Lisa Price hit a 3-pointer to tie the score at 49. The Indians (3-6) added a basket and a free throw to lead by three. With regulation time running down, Webb launched a shot from the top of the key that knotted the score at 52.
Craig led the Vikings (3-3) with 21 points, Holmes had 12 and Heath added 11. Price and Andrea Ferret scored 15 points each for Blacksburg.

COVINGTON - The Highlanders began their quest for the Pioneer District championship by routing the Cougars in the district opener for both teams.
Glenvar never was threatened after making 12 of 16 field-goal attempts in the first quarter and running to a 27-6 lead.
The Highlanders (6-1) had four double-figure scorers, led by Marilea Hale with 21 points and 11 rebounds. Her sister, Erika, scored18 points and grabbed eight rebounds. Toree Morris added 13 and Amanda Bishop chipped in 12 for Glenvar.
The Highlanders made 35 of 70 field-goal attempts in the game and committed only eight turnovers.
Michelle Jeter led Covington (3-3) with 10 points.

COVINGTON - The Mountaineers overcame a slow start, increased their defensive pressure and ran away with a non-district victory.
After trailing 9-5 at the end of a turnover-marred first quarter, Alleghany (4-3) substituted freely and kept it close the rest of the half.
The Mountaineers swamped the Knights in the third quarter with pressure defense and outscored James River 31-15 in the final 16 minutes.
Ten players scored for Alleghany, led by Katie Craft with 10 points. Heather Lyons scored 10 for James River.

NEW CASTLE - The Rockets (1-4, 1-0) bolted to an early lead, stumbled a bit, then crusied to the Pioneer District victory behind Chrissy Robertson's 14 points. April Rexrode hit three 3-pointers and scored 12 points for Highland.

MONETA - The Golden Eagles used a full-court man-to-man press to force numerous turnovers as they wore down the Red Devils in the Seminole District. Staunton River (5-1, 5-1) was led by Deena Mitchell who scored a game-high 27 points, including two 3-pointers.

FLOYD - Leigh-Ann Pursifull scored 13 points to pace a balanced attack as the Buffaloes whipped the Maroon Tide in a non-district game. Laura Harman added 10 points for Floyd County (8-0). Pursifull had six rebounds and four assists, while Melissa Cantrell had five steals and five assists. Tammy Cox paced Galax (5-2) with a game-high 20 points.
