`ROAD TO WELLVILLE' COULD MAKE YOU ILL

It's hard to imagine what Alan Parker and company had in mind when they made "The Road to Wellville, history's longest cinematic toilet joke.

This painfully silly - make that embarrassing - movie about a health spa in Battle Creek, Mich., at the turn of the century, is such an awkward mix of low-brow comedy and melodrama, it seems to be slipping around in 12 inches of its favorite topic.
