The Roanoke Academy of Medicine Alliance recently elected its 1994-95 executive board.
They are: Susanne Royster, president; Marilyn Donato, president-elect; Susan Ivey, vice president; Beth Lewis, recording secretary; Ann Rutherford, corresponding secretary; Beth Durham, treasurer; and Dottie Thomas, assistant treasurer.
The Alliance supports community health projects and funding for scholarships in health professions. This year $20,000 will be awarded to 22 area students, who are studying at Virginia Western Community College, Roanoke Memorial Hospitals, Radford University, and Community Hospital's College of Health Sciences.
Christmas parade needs entries
The Vinton Chamber of Commerce is now accepting entries for the Vinton Christmas Parade. The parade will be held Thursday, Dec. 1 at 7 p.m.
Marching units, decorated floats, clowns and novelty units are welcome. Cash prizes will be awarded.
There is a $15 entry fee; deadline is Nov. 18.
