PHILLIPS, Charlie Ross, 97, of Radford, passed away Friday, December 31,
1993 at Radford Community Hospital. He was born April 10, 1896 in Floyd
County, Va., a son of the late Bryant Phillips and Cleoria Williams Phillips.
He is survived by two daughters and son-in-law, Tina Esta and Jay Nester,
Dugspur, Ruby McDaniel, Radford; 4 sons and daughters-in-law, Ralph and Mae
Phillips, Stuart, James and Geneva Phillips, Radford, Rev. Kirby and Mary
Phillips, Rocky Mount, Charlie R. and Ann Phillips Jr., Martinsville; one
brother, Columbus Phillips, Vicker; 20 grandchildren; 26 great-grandchildren;
one great-great-granddaughter. Funeral services are 2 p.m. Sunday, January 2,
1994 at Mitchell Chapel Pentecostal Holiness Church with the Rev. Glennard
Quesenberry, Rev. Thornton Turpin and Rev. Harvey Carrico officiating. Burial
in Mitchell Chapel Cemetery with military rites at the graveside by Hillsville
V.F.W. Post #1115. The family will receive friends Saturday evening from 7 to
9 p.m. at the funeral home. Arrangements by Vaughan-Guynn-McGrady Chapel,
Hillsville.
