EAGLES RALLY TO WIN

Franklin County rallied from a 16-point deficit in the third quarter with 3-point shooting and aggressive defense to defeat Bassett 71-63 in a non-district high school basketball game Wednesday.

Chad Foutz led the way for Franklin County with 29 points, including six 3-pointers. K.C. Hancock added 12 points.

Art Wade scored 26 points and Tyree Hairston had 14 for Bassett. \

BEDFORD - The Minutemen wore down the Golden Eagles in the second and third quarters, outscoring them 45-20 in a Seminole District victory.

Bruce Jacobs led a balanced attack with 22 points for Liberty (5-1 overall, 5-1 district). Craig Coleman scored 15 points and Greg Reynolds added 14.

Geoff Zimmerman scored 11 points and Cornelius Fox had 10 for Staunton River (1-3, 1-3). \

Franklin County 38

Unbeaten Cave Spring loosened a close game with a third-quarter run en route to a Roanoke Valley District victory over Franklin County.

The Knights began the third quarter with a 6-0 spurt, opening a 24-17 lead. Allison Beightol had four points in the run and seven of her 11 in the third quarter, which ended with Cave Spring (11-0, 3-0) on top 34-28.

Aimee Beightol led the Knights with 17 points and Leah Daigle added 11. For Franklin County (2-4, 0-3), Patricia Campbell had 16. \
