\ REGINALD M. JACKSON, son of Regina and John Jackson Jr. of Roanoke, is participating in Operation Restore Hope in Somalia.
The 19-year-old Navy seaman is serving in Somalia as a boatswain's mate aboard the tank landing ship, USS Cayuga. Jackson is a graduate of William Fleming High School.
\ PFC. NOVAL I. WRIGHT, son of Edward L. and Patricia C. Wright of Roanoke, has completed Army basic training at Fort Leonard in Wood, Mo. and advanced individual training at Fort Lee, Va.
Wright is a 1993 graduate of Patrick Henry High School.
\ MARINE PFC. EDWARD C. BARBOUR, son of Peggy A. and Robert W. Barbour of 3226 Cove Road, recently completed recruit training at Parris Island, S.C., and was promoted to his current rank.

\ MARINE LANCE CPL. TIMOTHY S. DREWRY, son of Roger W. and Mary A. Drewry of 2842 Huff St., returned from a six-month Western Pacific, Indian Ocean and Persian Gulf deployment aboard the USS Abraham Lincoln.

\ SEAMAN RECRUIT DAVID A. BARNES of Roanoke recently completed Navy basic training in Great Lakes, Ill.

\ AIRMAN CHRISTOL D. REYNOLDS, daughter of Rebecca and Reinhold Lucas of 3758 Whispering Lane, recently graduated from basic training at Lackland Air Force Base, San Antonio.
\ PETTY OFFICER THIRD CLASS AVERY W. CRAIN, son of Cliff C. and Christine R. Crain of Buchanan, has returned from the Caribbean Sea aboard the USS Nassau.
The ship, based in Norfolk, served as a flagship enforcing U.N. sanctions against Haiti in Operation Support Democracy.
Crain is a 1986 graduate of Lord Botetourt High School.
