Banks, who averaged 13.4 points a game to lead the Terriers into the Region III tournament, is the sister of former Timesland player of the year Sherry Banks, now a freshman at Virginia Tech.
Jaclyn Banks, a sophomore, is also a standout volleyball player. However, she won't play any sports for the Knights until the 1993-94 school year.
"We're making the move now in order that she'll be eligible for volleyball next fall," said Jaclyn's father, Twyman Banks.
The Banks family moved to the Cave Spring area last summer and it was rumored then that Banks would switch to Cave Spring. However, Banks decided to stay at Byrd and play on a team she helped lead to second place in the Group AA state tournament when she was one of three freshman starters for the Terriers last year.
Banks will join a young Cave Spring girls' team that is 12-1 after beating Patrick Henry 75-36 Friday. The Knights have only one senior starter.

\ LIGON LEAVES COACHING: Long-time Franklin County baseball coach Mason Ligon announced Friday that he will not coach the Eagles again this year.
Ligon was unavailable for comment and gave no reason for his sudden resignation after 16 years as one of Timesland's most successful baseball coaches. He will remain with the school as the activities director.
Ligon's teams had a 168-125-1 record over 16 years and won two Roanoke Valley District titles while making four appearances in the Northwestern Region tournament.
Franklin County athletic director Jerry Little said a new coach will be picked sometime prior to the opening of practice on Feb. 28.
"Mason's been haggling over this [decision] the last few weeks. Certainly we're going to get on the ball in getting a new coach," said Little.
