OBIT-CALDWELL, DUDLEY MCKENNA, (MRS.)

CALDWELL, Dudley McKenna, (Mrs.) 76, of Harrisonburg, died Saturday evening, January 15, 1994, at 11:30 in the Rockingham Memorial Hospital. She was the widow of Dr. George M. Caldwell and resident of 122 Highlands Place, Sunnyside Retirement Community in Harrisonburg. A daughter of the late Paul King and Lila Mae Harper McKenna, she was born October 17, 1917 in Mt. Sterling, Ky. She attended Greenbrier College in Lewisburg, W. Va. Mrs. Caldwell had formerly made her home in Christiansburg, where she was a member of the Christiansburg Presbyterian Church, teaching Sunday School and singing in the choir. She moved to Harrisonburg in 1988 and had been a resident of Sunnyside Retirement Community for the past five years. She was a member of the Harrisonburg First Presbyterian Church. On December 19, 1942, she married Dr. George M. Caldwell, who preceded her in death on July 24, 1987. She is survived by one son and daughter-in-law, Dr. Paul C. and Paula T. Caldwell, Harrisonburg; one daughter and son-in-law, Lila C. and Douglas B. Gardner, Harrisonburg; two grandchildren, David Caldwell Gardner and Erin Elizabeth Gardner, both of Harrisonburg; one brother, Dr. William H. McKenna of Mt. Sterling, Ky.; and several nieces and nephews. Her body will be cremated at the Lindsey Cremation Chapel in Harrisonburg and a memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday afternoon at Sunnyside, with Dr. John F. Sloop and Dr. Jim Guthrie officiating. Memorial contributions may be made to the Sunnyside Presbyterian Home in memory of Mrs. Caldwell.
