OBIT-WATTS, RALPH LLOYD, SR.

WATTS, Ralph Lloyd, Sr., Capt. U.S.A.F. (Ret.), of Buchanan, died Monday, January 17, 1994, in a local hospital. He was an Air Force veteran of 21 years and served in World War II and the Korean War. Having received the Air Force Commendation Medal with 2 oak leaf clusters for meritorious service, he was Chief of Police at Sweetbriar College and later retired as Chief of Police at Hollins College. He was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars and of the American Legion and was a member of Highbridge Presbyterian Church. He was preceded in death by his parents, Oscar Eldridge and Katherine Estelle Parsons Watts. He is survived by his wife of 49 years, Isabelle Ransone Watts; son and daughter-in-law, Ralph Lloyd and Rebecca Shaver Watts, Jr., Buchanan; son, Willis Ransone Watts, Buchanan; daughter and son-in-law, Patricia Watts and Kenneth Todd Blevins, Golden, Colo.; two grandchildren, Annette Isabelle Watts and Christopher Dale MacLeish. Funeral services will be conducted at the Buchanan Baptist Church, Thursday, January 20, 1994, at 2 p.m. with the Rev. Mike Woody officiating. Interment will follow in Fairview Cemetery, Buchanan. The family will receive friends after 3 p.m. Tuesday at their home. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the American Cancer Society, the American Heart Association, or the Buchanan Rescue Squad. Arrangements by Rader Funeral Home, Buchanan.
