MINOR FUEL LEAK NARROWLY MISSES TINKER CREEK

A minor fuel leak came close to reaching Tinker Creek on Monday night at the Southern States Co-op feed plant in Vinton.

Vinton Fire Chief Barry Fuqua said a truck carrying diesel fuel punctured a saddle tank while entering Southern States on Wise Avenue. He said the truck hit a metal post, and approximately 40 to 50 gallons leaked out.

Some of the fuel seeped into a storm drain, but none leaked into the creek, Fuqua said.
