OBIT FARRIS, CECIL MAYNARD

FARRIS, Cecil Maynard, 76, of Roanoke, passed away on Monday, January 24, 1994. He was preceded in death by his loving wife, Ruth Silvers Farris; and one brother, Willard Farris. He was a two time Purple Heart Veteran of World War II. A retired letter carrier of thirty years with the U.S. Postal Service, and an active member of Grandin Court Baptist Church. Surviving are a son and daughter-in-law, Roderick Maynard Farris, and Georgia Farris, of Tacoma, Wash.; daughter Rosetta Ruth Farris, of Roanoke; brother, Douglas K. Farris; grandchildren, Kevin Farris and wife Tammy Farris, and Brian E. Farris; great-granddaughter Haley Jean Farris; sister-in-law, Gladys Boitnott; dear friend, Mildred Goff. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, January 26, 1994 at 10 a.m. at Oakey's North Chapel with the Rev. Carol Johnston, the Rev. Philip E. Motley, and the Rev. Robert M. Hamner officiating. Interment will follow at Sherwood Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the American Heart Association or the National Cancer Foundation. Family will receive friends from 7 to 9 p.m. on Tuesday, January 25, 1994. Arrangements by Oakey's North Chapel.
