OBIT ROBERSON, CURTIS OLIVER

ROBERSON, Curtis Oliver, 88, of Roanoke, died Sunday, January 23, 1994, after a brief illness. He was preceded in death by his wife, Gertie Ross Roberson and his parents, the Rev. James B. Roberson and wife, Judith Turner Roberson, all Patrick County natives and long time residents of Roanoke. Mr. Roberson was a member of Huntington Court United Methodist Church and an active member of the choir for many years. He was retired from Appalachian Power Co., with 42 years of service as an Administrative Assistant to the Vice-president. He was a life master of bridge, a member of the Elks Club and a past president of the North Roanoke Rotary Club. Survivors include one son, Dr. James O. Roberson and daughter-in-law, Martha Roberson of Boones Mill; two granddaughters, Stacy Roberson Killinger, Roanoke, and Virginia Roberson, Albany, Calif.; one grandson, Ross Roberson and wife, Kimberly, Salem; one brother, Otis P. Roberson, Ft. Mill, S.C.; three sisters, Blanche Wood, Princeton, W.Va., Ora Elgin, Stuart, Va., Janet Kessler, Roanoke; a number of sisters-in-law, nieces and nephews. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorials be made to the Cooley College Scholarship Fund at Huntington Court United Methodist Church or the charity of your choice. Funeral services will be conducted 2 p.m. Tuesday, January 25, 1994, at Huntington Court United Methodist Church by Dr. Alton M. Washington. Interment will follow in Evergreen Burial Park. The family will receive friends from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. Monday at Oakey's North Chapel.
