TEEN GETS 10 YEARS IN SLAYING AT SCHOOL

A Prince William County teen-ager has been sentenced to 10 years in prison for the shooting of a high school classmate at a party last spring.

Prince William Circuit Judge LeRoy F. Millette Jr. sentenced Brian Davis, 17, Friday for the second-degree murder of John Jenkins, 15. Millette also sentenced Davis to two years for the use of a firearm in commission of a felony in the April 18 shooting.

A jury convicted Davis on Dec. 7 after hearing testimony that Davis shot the 15-year-old Osbourn Park High School student in the chest at point-blank range.

Defense lawyer Richard Shadyac Jr. had asked the judge to sentence Davis as a juvenile, saying that he could be rehabilitated in the juvenile system.
