2 MEN ARE INJURED IN ROANOKE WRECK

Two men were injured late Saturday when they were thrown from their sports car, which rolled down an embankment at Plantation and Hollins roads and nearly landed in Tinker Creek.

Witnesses told police that their car was traveling about 80 mph when it attempted to pass another car on Plantation Road. The driver lost control and the car clipped a telephone pole. The car, a 1971 Corvette, was in so many pieces that it was difficult to determine the model, police said.

Anthony Dooley and William Clemons, whose ages and addresses were unavailable, were still being treated at the Roanoke Memorial Hospital emergency room early today.

Each man said the other had been driving, C.E. Rehak of the Roanoke County Police Department said, and it was not clear whether they were wearing seat belts. No charges had been filed early today.
