OBIT COONS, DAN L. SR.

COONS, Dan L. Sr., 73, of Troutville, passed away Saturday, January 29, 1994, to be with the Lord. He was an active member of Preston Oaks Baptist Church and was an Army veteran of World War II. Surviving are his wife, Ruth M. Coons; children, Dan L. Coons Jr., New Jersey, Jose and Susan Mercado, Goodview; Don and Mary Coons, Troutville; Phil and Janice Duffy, New Jersey; four granddaughters; three grandsons; brothers, M. L. Coons Jr., James B. Coons both of Texas; sisters, Marzelle Pemberton, Richmond, Jimmie Nelle Pennington, Texas. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that memorials be made to The American Cancer Society. Funeral services will be conducted 11:30 a.m. Tuesday at Oakey's North Chapel by the Rev. James R. Millsaps. Interment will follow in Blue Ridge Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends from 2 to 3 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. Monday at Oakey's North Chapel.
