OBIT CALDWELL, HERMAN HOOVER

CALDWELL, Herman Hoover, 60, of Newport, died Sunday, January 30, 1994, at his home, following a long illness. Born on Craigs Creek in Montgomery County, he was a son of the late Eldridge and Stella Caldwell. He was self-employed as a building contractor. Surviving are his wife, Florence W. Caldwell; three stepsons, Garland Atkins of Wilson, Alvin and Ernest Atkins, both of Newport; three stepgrandsons, Jason, Heath, and Cody; five brothers, Roscoe Caldwell of Blacksburg, Iven Caldwell of Floyd, Rexie Caldwell of Radford, Jerry Caldwell of Christiansburg, and Freddie Caldwell of Roanoke; three sisters, Ruby Long and Pauline Smith, both of Christiansburg, and Dollie Quesenberry of Blacksburg. Funeral services will be conducted Thursday, February 3, 1994, in the Kendall Funeral Home Chapel at Pembroke at 11 a.m. Burial will be in the Boyds Chapel Cemetery near Pembroke. The family will receive friends at the funeral home Wednesday evening from 6 to 9 p.m.
