A former Virginia Tech administrator has been selected to lead the proposed school, according to an advisory released Friday by VCU.
VCU President Eugene Trani and Virginia Tech President Paul Torgersen will hold a news conference Thursday announcing details of the plan, the advisory said.
Tech spokesman Larry Hincker said Friday that the universities have been working together on the plan for "a number of months."
Wayne Clough, former dean of the College of Engineering, spearheaded Tech's part in the joint effort beginning in early 1993, Hincker said. Clough left Tech in August to become provost at the University of Washington in Seattle.
Currently, VCU offers a graduate school engineering program with the help of Virginia Tech and the University of Virginia.
