OBIT--POWERS, ARCHIE RUSSELL

POWERS, Archie Russell, 71, of Bedford County, died Friday, February 4, 1994, in a Bedford nursing home. He was born in Bedford County on October 5, 1922, a son of the late Henry Buford Powers and Pearl Wilkes Powers. He was retired from Rubatex Corporation. He was preceded in death by his wife, Sarah Virginia Carter Powers. He is survived by two sons, Henry Buford Powers and Jack G. Powers, both of Bedford; one daughter, Anne Russell Creasy, Bedford; one sister, Eloise Rogers, Richmond; two grandsons, Jason G. Powers and Ricky R. Creasy, both of Bedford. A funeral service will be held 3 p.m. Sunday, February 6, 1994, at the Carder-Tharp Funeral Chapel with the Rev. J. Harris Stephens officiating. Burial will follow in the Greenwood Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 p.m. Saturday at the Carder-Tharp Funeral Home, Bedford.
