OBIT DANA, JOSEPHINE GRACE SMITH
DANA, Josephine Grace Smith, 84, of Roanoke, died Friday, February 4, 1994
at Our Lady of the Valley Retirement Center. Mrs. Dana was a native of Dixon,
Illinois, born on December 9, 1909, a daughter of the late Oliver Perry Smith
Jr. and Emily Alice Gilroy Smith. She was preceded in death by her husband,
Charles Arvid Dana and a son, Kent Oliver Dana. Surviving are a daughter and
son-in-law, Barbara D. and Eugene A. Periman, Christiansburg; a son, Charles
Douglas Dana, Denver, Colo.; one granddaughter and husband, Cathleen R. and
Ricky D. Tuck, Blue Ridge, Va.; one grandson and wife, David A. and Teresa R.
Periman, Virginia Beach, Va.; eight great-grandchildren, Christopher Tuck,
Michael Tuck, and Stephen Tuck, Mark Periman, Angela Periman, Anthony Periman,
Brian J. Periman and Kevin D. Perman; one sister, Della Maude Smith,
Sebastobol, Calif.; one nephew, Byron Dripps; three great-nephews, Randolph
Reay, Robert Reay, Richard Reay. A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m.
Saturday, February 12, 1994 at Our Lady of the Valley Retirement Center.
Chaplin William E. Baker of Good Samaritan Hospice and the Rev. Walter Lockett
of Green Memorial Methodist Church will officiate. Arrangements by McCoy
Funeral Home, Blacksburg.
