VMI WRESTLER NO. 5 IN NATION

VMI wrestler Charley Branch moved up to fifth in the national rankings this week at 142 pounds, according to Amateur Wrestling News.

Branch, who was eighth during the last rankings period, has a 25-2 record this season with eight pins. Fifth is the highest ranking the junior from Petersburg has attained in his VMI career.

VMI (8-2 overall, 2-1 in the Southern Conference) is host to Tennessee-Chattanooga in a conference match Saturday at 2:15 p.m.

The Roanoke Hawks AAU basketball program will hold an open gym tryout 3-5 p.m. Sunday at William Fleming High School. Participants must bring a copy of their birth certificate.
