"I have come to believe that some of the compulsions that overwhelmed my son may have had their origins in me," Lionel Dahmer writes in his newly published autobiography, "A Father's Story."
In the book, parts of which were quoted in Saturday's Milwaukee Sentinel, Lionel Dahmer said he was obsessed as a child with fire and bombs, and had a recurring dream about murdering someone.
The book also recounts the childhood of Jeffrey Dahmer, who is serving 16 life sentences for the mutilation murders of young men and boys.
The elder Dahmer said he once found a small wooden box that his son refused to open. He later learned the box contained the head of one of Jeffrey Dahmer's victims. - Associated Press
