SOME FARMERS MAY GET STATE TAX CREDIT

Farmers who bought high-tech fertilizer, pesticide and manure-application equipment in late 1993 could benefit from a recent action by the Virginia Department of Taxation.

The agency extended its Dec. 31, 1993, deadline until May 31 to let farmers file a nutrient-management plan with their soil and water conservation district.

If farmers bought equipment in 1993, they could be eligible for a credit on their state tax liability of 25 percent of the cost up to $3,750.

For more information, call your county extension agent or Soil & Water Conservation District Office.
