GREASE FIRE BURNS ROANOKE WOMAN

A Roanoke woman received second-degree burns to her legs Wednesday when she tried to put out a grease fire by throwing water on it, according to Roanoke District Fire Chief Garry Basham.

Trina Vance, 22, was listed in stable condition Wednesday night at Roanoke Memorial Hospital.

Firefighters responded to the fire at Lincoln Terrace Apartments on Burrell Street Northwest just after 3 p.m. Wednesday. The blaze, which was limited to the kitchen of Vance's apartment, did an estimated $2,000 in damage, Basham said.
