Nelson Fox, who guided Parry McCluer to the state championship game for the first time in 36 years, is The Associated Press' 1993-94 Group A boys' basketball coach of the year.

Gilmore joins Mike Byers and Percy White of William Monroe, Chad Ervin of Twin Springs and Jon Griffin of Northwood on the All-Group A team chosen by sports writers and broadcasters throughout the state.

The second team is Waylon Hart of Honaker, Mike McElroy of Parry McCluer, Terry Millirons of Auburn, Glenn Sensabaugh of J.I. Burton and Andre Woodson of Fluvanna.
