"`Sunday Morning' has been my favorite television program," said Osgood, who is known for his occasional light verse and "The Osgood File," his droll, four-a-day CBS Radio feature. "Although I'm succeeding Charles Kuralt, I know that I cannot replace him. Nobody could."
Osgood will continue "The Osgood File."
Kuralt will air his final broadcast on Sunday. He retires May 1, after 37 years with CBS News.
Rush Limbaugh has found love. Marta Fitzgerald, twice-married mother of two from Florida who used to be an aerobics instructor, moved into a New York condo with the radio talk-show host. They met on a bulletin board on the CompuServe, a computer service.
Said a source: "She's having her teeth done. She's buying clothes. She's changing her hair. And she's looking into plastic surgery. It's a Pygmalion transformation."
Limbaugh, who calls her "Jaguar," isn't liking talk that he's already into a henpecked mold. "I resent being called putty," he said.
Just think of it: a concert with U2, Bruce Springsteen, Billy Joel, Johnny Cash and Jerry Lee Lewis. Why, it would be a show fit for a king.
In fact, that's the idea. Graceland officials are planning the estate's first tribute to Elvis Presley, set for the weekend of Oct. 7.
"Just about any superstar who's mentioned Elvis as an influence has been considered," Graceland spokesman David Beckwith told Rolling Stone magazine in its April 21 issue. He wouldn't say who, if anyone, has accepted.
The concert's co-producers - Elvis Presley Enterprises and Avalon Attractions - plan to hold the show at the 22,500-seat Pyramid Arena in Memphis, Tenn., and broadcast it worldwide.
