Sowers (1-0) went 4-for-5 with two doubles, two RBI and two runs runs scored for the Rockets in addition to pitching the last two innings to pick up the victory.
The Rockets (1-4) rallied from a four-run deficit in the bottom of the sixth inning, when Johnny Crawford doubled to knock in two runs, Ben Boardwine hit a sacrifice fly and pitcher Jeff Jones singled to tie the score at 10.
Mark Akers finished with five runs and five stolen bases for the Shawnees. Teammate Kristopher Peters went 4-for-6 and scored four runs.

In Low Moor, Nolan Caldwell struck out eight and gave up six hits while picking up the victory with a complete-game effort as Alleghany beat Greenbrier East (W.Va.) 9-3 in a non-district game.
David Dixon hit a three-run homer in the first inning to pace the Mountaineers (3-1) on offense.
In Hot Springs, Glenvar (4-1, 2-0) scored five runs in top of the seventh inning to pull out a 9-5 Pioneer District victory over Bath County.
David Henderson drove in three runs for the Highlanders and Jason Darnall added two.
The Chargers (4-2, 1-1) had only two hits, but catcher Corey Wolfe kept them in the game by throwing out five runners trying to steal second base.
\ BOYS SOCCER: In Martinsville, Chris Merriman and Eric Pitches scored goals as Bassett (4-0, 2-0) beat Laurel Park 2-0 in a Piedmont District game.

\ TRACK AND FIELD: Darryl Williams of James River won the 400 meters and 800 meters and anchored the 1,600-meter relay team as the Knights defeated Alleghany 61-57 in a duel meet in Buchanan.
Stanley Lane won the 1,600 and 3,200 for James River, Brian LeFlore finished first in the triple jump and 100 and Johnny Burrell won the shot put and discus.
Christina Wolgamott and Melanie Fisher each won three events in the girls' competition as Alleghany defeated James River 86-35.
Wolgamott won the high jump, the 800 and the ran a leg of the 1,600 relay. Fisher captured the long jump and the 100 and ran a leg of the 400 relay. Erin Showalter and Jodi Nanney were double-winners for the Mountaineers.
