Sowers (1-0) went 4-for-5 with two doubles, two RBI and two runs runs scored for the Rockets in addition to pitching the last two innings to pick up the victory.
The Rockets (1-4) rallied from a four-run deficit in the bottom of the sixth inning, when Johnny Crawford doubled to knock in two runs, Ben Boardwine hit a sacrifice fly and pitcher Jeff Jones singled to tie the score at 10.
Mark Akers finished with five runs and five stolen bases for the Shawnees. Teammate Kristopher Peters went 4-for-6 and scored four runs.

In Pearisburg, Bucky Burton scored off J.C. Riggs' single in the seventh inning to give Giles (2-2) a 4-3 victory over Christiansburg (2-4) in Pearisburg.
Billy Martin was 2-for-4, including a solo home run, and Mike McCoy had three hits to lead the Spartans.
Pulaski County scored five unearned runs in the last two innings to beat host Patrick Henry 6-2 in a Roanoke Valley District game.
Seth Callis pitched a one-hitter through five innings, but Patrick Henry pitchers walked 10 batters during the game.
In Narrows, Jeff White, Jarrett Rhodes and Patrick Bailey had two hits apiece, and Whitey Blankenship was 1-for-1, walked twice, scored two runs, stole four bases and had two RBI as Narrows (4-0) edged Union (W.Va.) 11-9 in a nondistrict game.
Matt Linkous went 4-for-4 with two RBI and scored two runs and Donnie Franklin had one RBI and two runs as Radford (2-7) routed Floyd County 13-4 in Floyd. Ryan Brittle pitched 5 innings, gave up two runs and struck out seven to pick up the win for the Bobcats.
Peter Bucklin went 4-for-4 with two RBI to anchor the Buffaloes (4-1).
\ BOYS' SOCCER: In Radford, Gregg Adamo had a goal and an assist, and Nick Kappas scored a goal as Blacksburg (4-0-1, 1-0) beat Radford (4-1, 0-1) 2-0 in the New River District opener for both teams.
In Christiansburg, Tony Lisanti, Sam Nokuri and Chris Lisanti scored as the Blue Demons (4-1) netted all their goals in the second half and blanked Giles 3-0 in a nondistrict game.
