Doug Kenney was 4-for-4, including two triples, with five RBI, and Josh Falmon was 3-for-4 with a triple to lead the Knights' offense. Fleming (1-5, 0-2) led 3-1 after the first inning, but Cave Spring (3-3, 2-1) scored seven runs in the second to take control.
Pitcher Dwain Sowers hit a ground-rule double in the bottom of the eighth inning with two runners on base to lead Craig County past Shawsville 12-11 in a wild game at New Castle.
Sowers (1-0) went 4-for-5 with two doubles, two RBI and two runs runs scored for the Rockets (1-4) in addition to pitching the last two innings to pick up the victory.
In Hot Springs, Glenvar (4-1, 2-0) scored five runs in top of the seventh inning to pull out a 9-5 Pioneer District victory over Bath County.
David Henderson drove in three runs for the Highlanders and Jason Darnall added two.
Joey Taylor worked the final four innings to pick up the win for Glenvar.
Pulaski County scored five unearned runs in the last two innings to beat host Patrick Henry 6-2 in a Roanoke Valley District game.
In Moneta, Jeff Hill went 2-for-3 in a losing effort as Staunton River (2-3) fell 3-0 to William Campbell.
Carlisle led the entire way en route to an 11-9 Virginia Independent Conference victory over host North Cross (1-2, 1-2).
\ SOFTBALL: Tracy Doupnik's bases-loaded double with two out in the top of the seventh inning broke a tie and propelled William Byrd to a 6-1 victory over host Glenvar.
Tamasa Adams pitched a three-hitter and struck out 10 to earn the victory. Both teams are 3-1-1.
\ BOYS' SOCCER: In Rocky Mount, Jason Turner scored with five minutes remaining to give Franklin County (2-2-1, 0-0-1) a 2-2 tie with Cave Spring (2-2-1, 0-1-1) in a Roanoke Valley District game. Tom Belk scored twice for the Knights.
\ TRACK AND FIELD: Darryl Williams of James River won the 400 meters and 800 meters and anchored the 1,600-meter relay team as the Knights defeated Alleghany 61-57 in a boys' dual meet in Buchanan.
Christina Wolgamott and Melanie Fisher each won three events in the girls' competition as Alleghany defeated James River 86-35.
