Terry Millirons went the distance, throwing a six-hitter as Auburn beat Blacksburg 6-2 in a non-district game in Riner. Brad Suthin led the Eagles' offense, going 2-for-3 and scoring two runs. Both teams are 2-4.
Scotte Phillips was 2-for-2 with a three-run homer and four RBI as Riverheads hammered Craig County 12-4 in a non-district game at New Castle.
The Rockets (1-5) took a 2-0 lead in the first inning on Jeff Jones' single, but Riverheads (2-2-1) used a five-run third inning to take control.
In Lovingston, Nelson County (4-1, 4-1) led the entire way, picking up a 9-7 Seminole District win over Staunton River. Jeff Woodford led the Golden Eagles (2-4, 2-4) with two hits and one RBI.
\ BOYS' SOCCER: Andrew Bailey scored two goals to lead Salem (2-1, 1-0) past Lord Botetourt 5-1 in a Blue Ridge Conference game in Daleville.
\ SOFTBALL: Rhonda Rankin was 3-for-4 with two RBI as Salem beat host Cave Spring 6-1 in a non-district game.
\ TRACK: Maurice Milton won the 110-meter and 300-meter intermediate hurdles as Giles easily beat a four-team field in a boys' track meet in Pearisburg.
Shayla Evans won the 100 and 200 meters, and Sara Argabrite won the 800 and 1,600 meters to lead Radford to victory in the girls' meet.
