Jason Anderson and David Henderson combined to pitch a two-hitter as host Glenvar routed Salem 12-1 in a non-district game. Tim Carroll and Eric East led the Highlanders with two hits apiece.
Billy Thomas scored off Cory Wolfe's sacrifice fly in the seventh inning to give Bath County a 2-1 victory over James River in a Pioneer District game in Buchanan. Chris Phillips picked up the victory, giving up three hits and striking out five.
\ BOYS' SOCCER: Michel Mourou scored two goals to lead William Fleming (7-1 overall, 2-1 district) to a 4-2 Roanoke Valley District victory over Pulaski County in Dublin.
Mike Kolnok posted a shutout in goal and Paul Daugherty's first-half goal was enough to give host Roanoke Catholic (3-5) a 1-0 non-conference victory over Lord Botetourt (5-2).
\ GIRLS' SOCCER: In Charlottesville, Patrick Henry (6-0) outshot Charlottesville 30-0 en route to a 5-0 non-district victory. In their six games, the Patriots have faced six shots.
\ SOFTBALL: Amy Layman pitched a two-hitter and struck out 11 as host Glenvar rallied to beat Parry McCluer 3-2 in a Pioneer District game. The Fighting Blues scored two runs in the top of the first inning, but Glenvar battled back and Kelly Winter scored the winning run in the bottom of the sixth.
William Byrd (7-1) used an eight-run sixth inning to roll past host Cave Spring (5-4) in a non-district game.
Stacey Knight pitched a one-hitter, and Heritage (5-4) used seven unearned runs to blast Patrick Henry (3-7) in a non-district game, winning 9-0 in Lynchburg.
\ TRACK: David Robinson won the shot put and high jump, Chad Pack won the 400 and 800 meters, and freshman Tony Lewis won the 100 and 200 as host Glenvar (9-0) won a boys' meet with Bath County and Craig County.
In the girls' meet, Trish Nervo won the 1,600 and 3,200, Amanda Kennedy won the 100 and 200 and Mandi Bishop tied a school record with a victory in the high jump (4 feet, 10 inches).
Jamie Price won the 100 and 200 and ran a leg on the winning 400 relay team, and Larry Jones won the long jump and 110 hurdles and was on the winning 400 relay team as host Patrick Henry beat Pulaski County and Franklin County in a boys' Roanoke Valley District meet.
Sandy Hudson won the 100 and 300 hurdles to lead Franklin County past Patrick Henry and Pulaski County in the girls' meet. Patrick Henry's Arminta Crosby won four individual events - long jump, triple jump, 100 and 200 - and was on the winning 400 relay team.
Fenn Crutchfield won the high and long jumps and was part of the winning mile-relay team, and Kevin Austin won the 100 and 200 and was part of the winning 400 relay team as host William Fleming beat Cave Spring in a boys' dual meet.
Cave Spring's Emily Rakes won the high jump, 100 hurdles and 300 hurdles as the Knights beat the Colonels in the girls' meet.
James River's John Pearson won the discus, 110 hurdles and 300 hurdles as the James River boys' team finished second to Covington in a quad meet in Covington. The Knights' Melissa Baker also won three events as the James River girls' team also finished second to Covington. Baker won the 100 and 300 hurdles and the 100 dash.
