LANES CLOSING ON INTERSTATE

The Virginia Department of Transportation has announced that two of the southbound lanes of Interstate 81 between mileposts 120 and 118 will be closed so that the road can be resurfaced. The work will begin at 7 a.m. today and continue through Thursday.

Laura Bullock, spokeswoman for the VDOT, said motorists traveling south on I-81 will experience delays as they approach Christiansburg Mountain. She said transportation workers will have to remove the old pavement on the stretch of highway before they do the resurfacing.
