Perhaps you were recognized at an awards assembly, hit a home run in baseball, aced a tough test or helped feed your little brother or sister without adult help.
Whatever it was that made you feel proud, NewsFun wants you to write about it for our annual spring writing contest.
All you have to do is write an original essay telling about your proudest moment, describing what happened and how you felt.
. The essay must be original; we want you to write about something that really happened to you. It should not be something that you read or heard from someone else.
You can make your essay as short as you like, but it can not be longer than 200 words. You can submit an illustration with your essay if you like.
Entries in the contest will be divided into three age groups: kindergarten-second grade; third-fifth grade; and sixth-eighth grade. Winners in each age group will receive a Roanoke Times & World-News comics umbrella, and their teachers will receive a Roanoke Times & World-News thermal mug.
Here's all you have to do to enter:
Submit an original essay telling about your proudest moment. It should not be longer than 200 words, and you may illustrate it if you wish.
Include your name, grade, school, home telephone number, home address and school telephone number on a separate piece of paper, attached to your story.
Mail your entry to NewsFun's Writing Contest, Roanoke Times & World-News, P.O. Box 2491. Roanoke, Va. 24010-2491.
All entries must be received by May 30 at 9 a.m. Only one entry per person.
