NAVY SEAMAN RECRUIT ERIC L. DOLUMBA, son of Edward S. and Patricia L. Dolumba of Vinton, Dolumba recently completed basic training at Recruit Training Command, Great Lakes, Ill.

\ LT. COL. GREGORY P. PARKER, son-in-law of Mr. and Mrs. Roby J. Jarrett of 910 Fifth St. and M.H. Poindexter Jr. of Roanoke, recently was promoted to his current rank while stationed at Eglin Air Force Base, Fla.

\ COAST GUARD LT. j.g. DONALD R. DYER, son of Donald R. Dyer Sr. of Longacre Drive and Karen L. Melton of Caldwell Street, recently received the Air Medal for meritorious achievement while participating in aerial flight with Coast Guard Group Astoria in Warrenton, Ore.

\ AIR FORCE SENIOR AIRMAN ROBERT L. ANDERSON, son of Dan C. Anderson of Moneta and Joyce A. Anderson of Vinton, is a member of the 437th Supply Squadron that won Best In The Air Force honors at the American Petroleum Institute's Competition held at Manila, Philippines.

Anderson is a 1986 graduate of William Byrd High School.

\ SEAMAN ETHAN J. MASON, son of Harold W. and Susan B. Mason of Buchanan, recently completed basic training at Recruit Training Command in Orlando, Fla.

\ PETTY OFFICER FIRST CLASS THOMAS E. BUSH recently departed for a six-month deployment to the Mediterranean Sea aboard the guided missile cruiser USS Vicksburg, based in Mayport, Fla.

\ LANCE CPL. BRETT J. STACEY, son of Lee and Marie Stacey of 1414 Abbey Circle, Vinton, was promoted to his present rank while serving at Camp Lejeune, N.C.
