TRIP TO SEE UAW PARADE BEGINS SATURDAY

New River Valley residents who want to see or participate in Sunday's Rolling Thunder Seven parade in Washington, D.C., will leave from the United Auto Workers union building at 9 a.m. Saturday.

A show truck from Volvo GM Heavy Truck Corp. will be taken for the second year to the parade expressing patriotism and support of the country.

The convoy from the New River Valley is being organized by the union's Veterans' Committee, which assists union Volvo GM employees who are veterans and raises money for a number of civic projects in the area.

Some of the delegation from the New River Valley plan to stay in the Washington area Monday to attend the 9 a.m. wreath-laying at the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier in Arlington National Cemetery, and to hear President Bill Clinton speak at 1 p.m. at the Vietnam War Memorial.

Further information on the departure and weekend activities is available by telephoning Tom Parsons at 731-3213 or Jeff Walke at 980-4367.
