MAN CHARGED WITH SODOMY

A 36-year-old Roanoke County man was charged Wednesday with the forcible sodomy of a 3-year-old girl, Roanoke County police said.

David Lockard, of the 6700 block of Shingle Ridge Road, was released on his own recognizance. Police arrested him after an interview Wednesday morning.

At about 10:30 Tuesday night, police received a complaint from the mother of a 3-year-old girl who had visited Lockard's home that evening to play with some neighborhood children. Police said the incident allegedly occurred about 8 p.m., when Lockard was alone with the girl.
