13 PEOPLE OVER AGE 50 IN SENIOR STAR REVUE

Thirteen Roanoke Valley residents, between the ages 50 and 88, will participate in the second annual Senior Star Revue Friday at Virginia Western Community College's Whitman Auditorium.

The revue, a benefit for the scholarship fund of Alpha Tau Chapter of Phi Delta Kappa Inc., will start at 7 p.m. Tickets are $10 for adults and $5 for children.

Woodrow Walker Jr., who won the talent competition last year, will be guest artist.

Participants include several seniors who performed last year. Gertrude Childress, 88, is the oldest participant and will recite a poem. Franklin Riles, 73, will play an instrument he designed.

The other participants are: Luther Atkins, Ann Abbington; Marie Barlow; Marian Chappelle; Christine Payne and James Tucker, all vocalists; Fola Dickey; Alease Frazier and Magnolia Irving, who will do recitations; and the Rev. Junius R. Hughes Jr. and James Peery, who will play instruments.
