PANHANDLER ARRESTED AGAIN IN ROANOKE

Mark D. Dunford, the wheelchair panhandler who last year was sentenced to jail time for loitering and public drunkenness on downtown Roanoke streets, was arrested Saturday and accused of spitting on and hitting people on the City Market.

Dunford was charged with assault and violation of his bond at 11:50 a.m. Saturday after several people were hit. He was being held at Roanoke City Jail without bond late Monday.

Police said they had to handcuff Dunford to arrest him.
