FLORA, Sylvia Angle, 77, of Rt. 1 Wirtz, who suffered the ravages and restraints of Alzheimers disease for 111/2 years was released from her earthly burdens and suffering by the grace of God Thursday, June 9, 1994. She joins her loved ones who have gone before her; parents, Price T. and Mattie Bryant Angle; a brother and sister-in-law, Duward and Jean Flora Angle; and a granddaughter, Angela Rose Johnson. A lifelong member of Germantown Brick Church of the Brethren, where as a young adult Sylvia was Messenger Correspondent and pianist. She was a graduate of National Business College, was pianist at Rehobeth United Methodist Church and retired as Wirtz Postmaster. Dedicated to her home, family and faith Sylvia was blessed by God with the gift of music. She shared her talent with many persons and brought joy to the hearts of all who appreciated her gift of music. Family members who will miss her include her devoted husband of 53 years, Melvin Lee Flora, who lovingly cared for her at home many years with the help of a special friend, Mrs. William (Darlene) Rutrough, of Rocky Mount and the many aids and nurses of Franklin Memorial Hospital Home Health Care; her children and grandchildren will also miss her, Charlotte Flora and Anthony (Leo) Johnson, and Lee and Laura Johnson, all of Rocky Mount, Millard and Susan Flora, and Ross and Elli Flora, all of Wirtz; also nephews and families, Robert and Dollene Angle, Cheraw, S.C., David and Andreiana Angle, Aiken, S.C.; a niece and family, Debbie and Rick Hutson, Cheraw, S.C. Funeral services will be conducted at 2 p.m . Saturday, June 11, 1994 at Germantown Brick Church of the Brethren with the Rev. Fred A. Driver officiating. Interment will follow in Franklin Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorials to the Alzheimers Disease Association (A.D.R.D.A), Roanoke Salem Chapter, PO Box 5014, Roanoke, VA. 24012 or to the Germantown Brick Church of the Brethren Building Fund, Rt. 1 Box 1950, Rocky Mount, Va. 24151. HARRIS, Gladys L., 92, of Vinton, died Thursday, June 9, 1994, in a Vinton Nursing Home. She was the widow of James M. Harris. Surviving are two daughters, Mrs. Raymond R. (Margaret) Mask, Goodview, Va. and Mrs. Isaac G. (Mildred) Clark, Jr., Vinton; brother, Moyer Lovins, Floyd, Va.; two grandchildren, James R. (Jim) Bryant, Salem and Ronda Dooley, Goodview and two great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be at Oakey's Vinton Chapel 11 a.m. Saturday, June 11, 1994, with the Rev. C., Mrs. Yolanda Hunter Norman of New Jersey, and Mrs. Ercelene Gamble, Houston, Texas; one son, James H. Hunter III, Roanoke; four grandchildren; six sisters, Mrs. Mable Perkins, Mrs. Estelle Salters, Mrs. Nancy Hunter, and Mrs. Joane Hunter, all of Roanoke, Mrs. Ida Hargraves, Salisbury, N. IRVIN, Thomas Reed Sr., (``Tom""), 76, of Crockett, died Wednesday in the Wythe County Community Hospital from the result of an accident. He was the son of the late Frank and Edith Umberger Irvin. He was retired from the Virginia Department of Transportation and was a U.S. Navy Veteran of WW II. He is survived by his wife, Doris Jonas Irvin, Crockett; two sons and daughters-in-law, Thomas R. Jr. and Carolyn Irvin, Gladehill, Terry F. and Donna Irvin, Crockett; two sisters, Mrs. Rossie Dix, Wytheville, Mrs. Christine Shultzaberger, Lakeland, Fla; four grandchildren; two step grandchildren and three step great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be Friday 2 p.m. in the chapel of the Grubb Funeral Home, conducted by the Rev. Gary Kelly and the Rev. Joseph Brookshire, with the interment in the Mt. Ephriam United Methodist Church Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the United Lutheran Church or to the Mt. Ephriam United Methodist Church. JACOBS, Billie Thompson, 70, of 508 N. Giles Street, Pearisburg, Va. died Wednesday, June 8, 1994, in a Radford Hospital. She was born at Welch, W.Va. on August 2, 1923 and was the daughter of the late Frank and Mabel Thompson. She was preceded in death by a brother and two sisters. She was a veteran of World War II having served in the U.S. Navy. She is survived by her husband, William Henry Jacobs of Pearisburg, Va.; a son, William H. Jacobs III, Manassas Park, Va.; two daughters, Joyce Jill Griffin, Manassas Park, Va., Patricia G. Jacobs, Pearisburg, Va.; three brothers, James E. Thompson and Frederick C. Thompson both of Pearisburg, Va., Paul Thompson, Parkersburg, W.Va.; three sisters, Jacqueline M. Fox, Pearisburg, Va., Bonnie R. Joyner, Fayettville, N.C., Nancy Riveria, Oceanside, Calif.; four grandchildren. Graveside services will be held Saturday afternoo n at 2 p.m. in the Fairview Cemetery, Narrows, Va. with the Rev. KNISELY, Mary Parker, 73, of 2094 Twin Oaks, Pulaski, died early Thursday morning, June 9, 1994 at the Heritage Hall Nursing Home, Blacksburg, Va. She was born in Minneapolis, Minnesota June 10, 1920, and she was the daughter of the late Dr. and Mrs. Paul S. Parker. She was a member of the First Presbyterian Church, Pulaski. She was preceded in death by her husband, O. G. Knisely. Surviving are a son, Greg Knisely, Pulaski; two daughters, Janet Vogle, Fairfax, Martha Kimbal, Sandy, Utah; nine grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be held Saturday at 2 p.m. from the Stevens Funeral Chapel, Pulaski, with the Rev. Joel Wright officiating. LORTON, Lawrence E. (Sparky), 79, of Radford, died Wednesday, June 8, 1994 in a Radford hospital. He was a retired employee of Homer Cox Ford, a lifetime member of the City of Radford Fire Department, and a member of the Radford Host Lions Club. Surviving are his wife, Ella L. Lorton; one son, Lawrence H. (Larry) Lorton, San Antonio, Texas; a stepson, Richard O. Bartlett, of Roanoke; a stepdaughter, Barbara Beazley, Fredericksburg; two sisters, Vivian Brezeale of Radford, and Ernie Bonds, Virginia Beach; three brothers, Stanley Lorton, Willis, Willard Lorton, Roanoke, and Jack Lorton, Radford; two grandchildren also survive. LYNN, Robert Hill Dr., of Newport News, died Tuesday, June 7, 1994. A native of Buena Vista. He retired as a professor of English at various colleges. He was a member of Buena Vista Masonic Lodge. He received a B.A. English Degree from Washington and Lee and a M.A. and PhD English Degree from University of Virginia. McBRIDE, Robert David, 20, of Wardell, Virginia, died Wednesday, June 8, 1994, in a Richlands, Va. hospital. He was born in Grundy, Virginia and was a son of Mrs. Twila Sluss McBride of Wardell, Va. and the late Mr. Marvin McBride. He had made his home in the Wardell area for the past ten years and was a 1992 Graduate of Richlands High School. At the time of his death, he was a ranch hand on the Rockmore Farm in Belfast, Va. Survivors in addition to his mother are one sister and brother-in-law, Judy and Mark Angle of Rocky Mount, Va.; four brothers and sisters-in-law, Marvin and Brenda McBride of Oakland, Md., Steve and Brenda McBride of Wardell, Va., Greg and Tina McBride of Wardell, Va., Stanley McBride of Wardell, Va.; a special friend, Pearl Ann Berry; two nephews, Scottie McBride and Mike McBride, also four nieces, Amanda, Kim, Nikki, and Stephaine McBride also survive. Funeral services for Robert David McBride will be conducted Saturday at 2 p.m. at the Hurst-Scott Funeral Chapel in Richlands with the Rev. Roger Lester officiating. MITCHELL, Mandy Reece, 96, of Radford, passed away Wednesday, June 8, 1994, at Highland Manor Nursing Home, Dublin. She was preceded in death by her husband, John Mitchell and two sons, Charles and Vivian Mitchell. Survivors include four daughters and three sons-in-law, Essie and Joseph Franklin, Radford, Ocie and Cecil Stevenson, Camden, S.C., Virginia and Curtis Huff, Indian Valley, Geneva Williams, Radford; 13 grandchildren; 33 great-grandchildren; 17 great-great grandchildren. PIFER, Doris Williams, 86, of Dublin, died early Thursday, June 9, 1994 in the Radford Community Hospital after an extended illness. She was born in Greenbriar Co., W. Va. and was the daughter of the late Henry Paschal Williams and Martha McKeever Williams. She was preceded in death by her husband, Dolphus O. Pifer. Mr. and Mrs. Pifer operated Pifer Motor Co. in Dublin from 1945 until 1972. She was a member of the Dublin United Methodist Church. Surviving are two sons, Thomas H. Pifer Sr. and H. L. Pifer, both of Dublin; four grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren. Graveside services will be held at Highland Memory Gardens, Dublin, Va. at 11 a.m. Saturday, June 11, 1994, with the Rev.
