ROANOKE MAN ARRESTED ON DRUG CHARGE

Roanoke vice officers arrested a 34-year-old man on a federal drug warrant Friday afternoon, police said.

Twenty-two drug indictments are pending against Anthony Payton in Norfolk. Police said Payton resided at several addresses in the Roanoke area and used several aliases.

Vice officers stopped Payton while he was in a vehicle on 13th Street Northwest. Payton got out of the vehicle and was pursued by police on foot. He was soon caught by a patrol officer.

In connection with Payton's arrest, several vehicles, a large amount of cash, several weapons and two kilos of crack cocaine were seized. The total value of the seized items is estimated at $500,000.
