PEROT FOLLOWERS BACKING COLEMAN

The Virginia Independent Party,a newly formed group of supporters of former president candidate Ross Perot, voted Sunday to back the independent Senate bid of Marshall Coleman, possibly as its candidate.

The Richmond Times-Dispatch, using sources it did not identify, reported in its early Sunday editions that the deal to bring the Perot group into the Coleman fold was struck in the office of Sen. John Warner. Warner has said he cannot support the GOP nominee, Oliver North, in the November election to unseat Sen. Charles Robb.
