INTERNATIONAL TEAMS COMPETING IN ROANOKE

Roanoke Valley Youth Soccer will hold an eight-team tournament featuring international teams July 6-7 at the River's Edge Sports Complex.

The Caremark International Soccer Tournament, an event for under-18 teams, will include clubs from Germany and Denmark, two Roanoke Star squads and state champions from Virginia and North Carolina.

The foreign visitors, in the United States to watch the World Cup, are from Essen, Germany, and Fredensburg, Denmark. Roanoke's traveling teams have visited those teams in recent years, said Valley Youth Soccer executive director Danny Beamer.

Games will be played during the day and under the lights at the complex along Wiley Drive. - Staff report
