ANDREWS, Ethel Nannie Lovell, 66, of Bedford, died Monday, June 20, 1994 in a Bedford nursing home. She was born in Pulaski on January 12, 1928, a daughter of the late James William Lovell and Vergie Sage Lovell. She was preceded in death by her husband, Edison James Andrews, and one son, Douglas Edward Andrews. She is survived by seven sons, Jerry L. Andrews, Pulaski, David E. Andrews, Buena Vista, James L. Andrews, William E. Andrews, Roger W. Andrews, Frank R. Andrews, Robert P. Andrews, all of Bedford; three daughters, Shirley A. Hoback, Bedford, Mary A. Graham, Glasgow, Christine E. Andrews, Franklin Co.; one brother, Emmitt D. Lovell, Pulaski; seven grandchildren. A funeral service will be held 2 p.m. Wednesday, June 22, 1994 at the Carder-Tharp Funeral Chapel with the Rev. Richard L. Dooley officiating. Burial will follow in the Wolf Hill Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday at the Carder-Tharp Funeral Home, Bedford.

BEAMER, Roy Michael, 54, of Salem, beloved husband, dad and granddaddy passed away Monday, June 20, 1994, at home with his family by his side. He was an active member and deacon of Fort Lewis Baptist Church. He retired from Kraft General Foods. He was predeceased by his parents, George and Hilda Beamer. Surviving are his loving wife of 35 years, Shirley Jordan Beamer; two beloved sons and daughters-in-law, Michael A. and Dianna Beamer and Jeffrey K. and Leigh-Ann Beamer all of Salem; two cherished grandsons, Chad and Benjamin Beamer; three brothers, Steven Beamer, Barry and Mary-Lou Beamer, Salem, Allan and Edi Beamer, Green County; mother and father-in-law, Fred and Clara Jordan, Salem; sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law, Jo Ann and Claude Robertson, Roanoke, Ronald and Marilyn Jordan, Jackie and Darius Turman, Salem and Rosemary Jordan, Troutville. The celebration of Life Service will be 11 a.m Wednesday, June 22, 1994, at John M. Oakey & Son Chapel in Salem, with the Rev. Leonard L. Southern and Rev. J.W. Hatton officiating. BOARD, William Oscar (Bo), 67, of Roanoke, passed away Saturday, June 18, 1994. Survivors include a devoted friend, Ruth Owens, Roanoke; son, William Milton Board, White Plains, N.Y.; three daughters, Gail Board, Sharon Board, and Robin Board, all of Milwaukee, Wisconsin; god-son, Tacarlos Williams, Roanoke; four sisters, four brothers, ten grandchildren, five great-grandchildren; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends. BROWN, William Taft, 83, of Rt. 2, Rocky Mount, died Monday, June 20, 1994, in the local hospital. Born a son of the late Charlie M. and Emily Mason Brown, he was preceded in death by a daughter, Donna B. Cole. Mr. Brown retired from Bassett Industries with over 50 years of service. He was a long time member of Bethlehem United Methodist Church and was a member of the Woodman of the World for over 50 years. Surviving are his wife, Hazel Hodges Brown of the home; one daughter, Mrs. Watts (Carolyn) Barrow, Bassett; one grandson, Wesley Todd Fisher, Roanoke; one step-granddaughter, Daphne Barrow, Eden, N.C.; one sister, Mrs. Mary B. Love, Rocky Mount; one sister-in-law, Mrs. Grace Brown, Martinsville; and a number of nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Wednesday in Flora Funeral Chapel with the Rev. Herbert K. Seemann officia ting. Interment will follow in Franklin Memorial Park with rites by Woodman of the World. BROYLES, Willie Angie, 77, of Ballard, W.Va., died Sunday, June 19, 1994, at Princeton Community Hospital. Funeral services will be conducted 2 p.m. Wednesday, June 22, 1994, in the Chapel of Riffe's Funeral Service, Narrows, Va., with the Rev. Howard Spencer and the Rev. Bob Bradley officiating. BURTON, Arnold R., 79, of Salem, died Sunday, June 19, 1994, after a long illness. He was former superintendent of the Roanoke County School System. Surviving are his wife, Jimmye P. Burton; daughter and son-in-law, Suzanne Burton Young and Robert N. Young of Tuscaloosa, Ala.; grandson, Christopher Jason Burton Young, University of Alabama; brother, James Joe Burton of Rogersville, Tenn.; sister, Carrie Lee Allen of Surgoinsville, Tenn.; also leaves a host of friends. CANNADAY, Sally Emma Thompson, 88, died Sunday, June 19, 1994, at her home at Route 2, Bassett in the Blackberry Community. A homemaker, she had been ill for several years. Born in Franklin County on October 14, 1905, she was the daughter of the late Major Bunyan Thompson and the late Betty Beulah ""Sis"" Farner Thompson. She was preceded in death by a daughter, Betty Sue Cannaday and a son, Bunyan Allen Cannaday. She was of the Drimitive Baptist Faith. She is survived by her husband of 65 years, Charlie E. Cannaday; two daughters, Mrs. William (Inza) Belcher and Mrs. Jack (Faye) Handy, both of Bassett; five sons, Euell N. Cannaday of Patrick Springs, Charles S. Cannaday, E. Leon Cannaday, Joel M. Cannaday and Paul L. Cannaday, all of Bassett; two sisters, Mrs. Silas (Jacqueline) Stone and Mrs. Calie (Dirvie) Hall, both of Bassett; one brother, William B. Thompson of Preston; two sisters-in-law, Mrs. Hilda C. Thompson and Mrs. Hazel G. Thompson, both of Bassett; 13 grandchildren and 19 great-grandchildren. CONNER, Albert B., 67, of Christiansburg, departed this life June 20, 1994, in Montgomery Regional Hospital. He attended Bible Holiness Church and was a World War II veteran. He was owner of Montgomery Sanitation and Conner's Mobile Home Park. Formerly of Floyd County, he was the son of the late Walter E. and N annie E. Conner of Floyd, Va. He was preceded in death by several brothers, Elbert, Gomer, Grover, Sherman, and Elvin Conner all of Roanoke, Everette Conner of Virginia Beach and sisters Lila Gathercole of Richmond, Clara Faulkner of Bland, Emma Hill Martin of Floyd and Annie Radford of Pulaski. He is survived by his loving wife Margie A. Conner; daughter and son-in-law, Sandra and Ricky Harris; four sons and daughters-in-law, Albert Lee and Freda, Tony D. and Diane, Mark D. and Sue, and Timothy W. and Martha Conner, all of Christiansburg; one sister, Audrey Bolling; one half-sister, Vickie Moore, both of Roanoke; two granddaughters, Jessica and Rebecca Conner; six grandsons, Derek, Jonathon, Anthony, Darell, Winston Conner and Troy Harris, and one expected grandchild in September; many nieces, nephews and friends. COX, Gladie Phillips, 79, of Indian Valley, died Sunday, June 19, 1994, at her home. She is survived by four sons, Lacie A. Cox, Radford, Eldridge E. Cox, Willis, Payton L. Cox, Christiansburg, Waitman Cox, Radford; three daughters, Ruth Quesenberry , Willis, Noble Phillips, Christiansburg, Gayle Warren, Floyd; one brother, Robie Phillips, Christiansburg; one sister, Allene Quesenberry, Indian Valley; 15 grandchildren, ten great-grandchildren; four stepgrandchildren. DALTON, Ruby Pickett, 71, of Roanoke, passed away Monday, June 20, 1994, in a local hospital. She was a retired Postmaster in Kyle, W.Va., with 35 years service. She was preceded in death by her husband, James Wesley Dalton Sr., and a brother, Robert L. Pickett. Mrs. Dalton was a member of Northfork Baptist Church, Northfork, W.Va., and was a volunteer for the American Cancer Society. Surviving are her son and daughter-in-law, James W. Jr. and Wanda M. Dalton, Roanoke; grandson, Bryan W. Dalton and wife, Lori, Roanoke; sister, Mildred P. GRAVELY, William S., 71, of Christiansburg, passed away on Saturday, June 18, 1994, in the Montgomery County Regional Hospital, after a long illness. He was born September 12, 1922, in Christiansburg, the son of the late Henry and Lavenia Gravely. He was a lifelong member of the Asbury United Methodist Church. Mr. Gravely was a retired employee of the Norfolk & Western Railroad and was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Bessie Ford Gravely. He is survived by three sons and daughters-in-law, Larry and Lila Gravely, Christiansburg, Jerry and Nitcka Gravely, Newport News, William P. Gravely, Christiansburg; six daughters, Mrs. Clarence (Glenda) Do bbins, Mrs. Joseph (Mae) Pack, Mrs. Elvin (Donna) Buchannon, Ms. Betty Jo Gravely, Newport News, Mrs. Phyllis (Jerome) Robinson, Jacksonville, Fla., Mrs. Loretta Watts; 32 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; one sister, Lila Mae Gravely, New York. LEE, Palmer Wilson, 71, of Troutville, died Monday, June 20, 1994, in a Salem Hospital. He was a member of Catawba Valley Baptist Church. He served in WWII in the 82nd Airborne Division. He was awarded the Purple Heart and other awards. He is survived by his wife, Madalene Davis Lee; two sons and daughters-in-law, Paul and Joyce Lee, Roanoke Co., Alan and Teresa Lee, Troutville; sister and brother-in-law, Mabel and Harry Ginter of Roanoke; three grandchildren, Lisa, Seth and Noell; a stepgrandson, Jeff; very special friends, Eric and Linda Bourhill, Wally and Nita Johnson; several nieces and nephews. SIMPSON, Lois Marie, 60, of Roanoke, died Monday, June 20, 1994, in a local nursing home following a long illness. She was predeceased by her parents, Charles H. and Cora DeWeese Simpson; three brothers and one sister. She was an employee of Double Envelope with 24 years service. TILLER, Elizabeth Morgan, of Roanoke, passed away Monday, June 20, 1994 at her residence. Mrs. Tiller was a resident of Roanoke for over 60 years and was a member of Second Presbyterian Church. She was preceded in death by her husband, Charles Henson Tiller, two brothers, Thomas P. Morgan and Milton R. Morgan, and a sister, Bessie M. Hening. She is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Charles M. and Nancy Penn Tiller, Waynesville, N. C.; three grandchildren, Charles Randolph Tiller, Glenview, Ill., Samuel M. Ritchie Tiller, Indianapolis, Ind., Suzanne Morgan Pence, Overland Park, Kansas; six great-grandchildren.
