AKERS, Donna Slusher, 32, of Roanoke, died Wednesday, June 22, 1994. She was a member of the Pine Grove Primative Baptist Church and was the Assistant Manager of Revco, where she worked for 7 years. Donna was preceded in death by her paternal grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Barney Slusher and her maternal grandmother, Mrs. Elsie Hill. Surviving are her husband, Edward Jay Akers, Roanoke; her parents, Emmajean and Waltrude Slusher, Hillsville; a sister, Ms. Martha Slusher Michaelis, Galax; two brothers, Wayne D. Slusher, Roanoke and David K. Slusher, Hillsville; two nieces, Dedra and Sara Michaelis, Galax; maternal grandfather, Mr. Ferd Hill, Hillsville; two uncles and aunts, Bobby and Faye Hill, Hillsville and Larry and Donna Hill of Fancy Gap. Her father-in-law and mother-in-law, Edward C. and Bonnie Marie Akers; one brother-in-law, Freddie Akers; two sisters-in-law, Karon Brammer and Kathy Cecil, all of Roanoke. Funeral services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Saturday, June 25, 1994 at Vaughan-Guynn-McGrady Funeral Chapel, Hillsville. Burial will follow in Mount Lebanon Cemetery. BRICKEY, Bernard Wayne, 57, of Salem, passed away Tuesday, June 21, 1994, at his home after a brief illness. Survivors include his devoted wife, Dorothy Carroll Brickey; his loving children, daughters and sons-in-law, Michele and Josh Lester of Richmond, Donna and Dennis Brown of Salem; son and daughter-in-law, B. Wayne and Diana Brickey, Jr. of Nashville. He also leaves behind six grandchildren, his pride and joy, Justin, Christopher and Zachary Brown, Andrew and Jeremy Lester and Alyson Brickey; brother, Richard R. Brickey of Salem; sisters, Barbara Pollard and Sally Huffman both of Salem. Funeral services will be held on Friday, June 24, 1994, at 11 a.m. at the John M. Oakey & Son Funeral Home Chapel, Salem with the Rev. Michael L. Slaughter officiating. Interment will be private. Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society.

BURKE, Howard Nelson, 78, of Radford, died Thursday, June 23, 1994, at his residence. Born February 3, 1916, he was the son of the late Joseph Burke and Agnes Barker. He was preceded in death by his wife, Kate Anderson Burke on December 25, 1993. He was a Veteran of World War II. He was a member of Rockford United Methodist Church, and was a retired Pipefitter for Local Union 491 in Roanoke. He is survi ved by his daughter, Norma J. Burke of Radford; two sisters, Mary Greene and Sudie Dudley both of Radford. He was also survived by two favorite pets, Sissy and Angel. Funeral services will be held 2 p.m. Saturday from the Rockford United Methodist Church with the Rev. Neil Long officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. DOOLEY, Emanuel Tom, 74, of 8 Algier Ave., Winter Springs, Fla. died Wednesday, June 22, 1994, after complications of cancer. He was born November 19, 1919 in Cloverdale, Va. and was a U.S. captian serving in the World War II and employee of Super Food Services of Orlando. Survivors include his beloved companion and best friend, June T. Stoll; daughters, Patty I. Mayer of Geneva, Cindy D. Jones, Daytona Beach, Fla. FIX, Henry Maury, 82, of Buena Vista, Virginia, died Wednesday, June 22, 1994, at his residence. Mr. Fix was born in Rockbridge Co., on August 3, 1911, a son of the late Freeman A. Fix and Bessie Smith Fix. He was a member of the Oxford Presbyterian Church, Lexington, a member of the Buena Vista Independent Order of Odd Fellows Lodge #25 and Encampment of Lexington, and was retired from the E.R. Moore Company. Surviving are a daughter, Judy Fix, Marion; a sister-in-law, Elizabeth Fix, Lexington; a granddaughter, Pamela Wentz, Portsmouth; a great-grandson, Bobby Wentz, Portmouth. HOLDREN, Ruth C., 86, of Newark, Del., died Monday, June 20, 1994. She was the widow of Charles P. Holdren. Survivors include four sons, Ray, Ronnie, and Kenneth Holdren, all of Newark Del., Roy Holdren, Durham, N.C.; half-brother, Claude Chambers, Danville; 11 grandchildren, 17 great-grandchildren, and three great-great-grandchildren. JENNY, M. Frederick, 73, of Roanoke, died Wednesday, June 22, 1994, in a Charlottesville hospital. Mr. Jenny was born April 22, 1921 in Ni agara Falls, NY. He graduated from DeVeaux Preparatory School in Niagara Falls, received a B.S. from VMI and his M.S. from VPI. Following service as an Infantry Officer in the European Theatre during World War II, he served as a Chemical Engineer with American Viscose in Roanoke, Allied Chemical Corp. and Fisher & Porter. He was a partner in Buck Sales, Inc. and retired from International Controls Co., Inc. in 1986. Mr. Jenny was a board member and President of Welcome House Adoption Agency--Pearl Buck Foundation; Rotary Club of Doylestown, Pa; a volunteer with the Roanoke Valley History Museum and an Elder in the Presbyterian Church. Surviving are his wife, Agnes Reid Jones Jenny; daughters & sons-in-laws, Anne Reid Jenny and Tom Bradshaw, Mechanicsburg, Pa., Elizabeth Jenny and Sanford Steelmans, Matthews, NC, son and daughter-in-law, Frederick Bradley and Susan Jenny, Chapel Hill, N.C.; grandchildren, Susan R. JOHNSON, Amanda, 13, of Roanoke, passed away Monday, June 20, 1994 at the Community Hospital of Roanoke Valley. She was born August 14, 1980. She was a 1994 graduate of the Ruffner Middle School, Roanoke and a member of the YWCA, Stepteam, and the Ruffner Magnet Choir. Amanda confessed Christ on Wednesday, June 15, 1994. She is survived by her mother, Sylvia McCollum, Roanoke; father, William Johnson Sr. of Pennsylvania; three sisters, Angela, Alesha, and Cortessa Johnson; two brothers, William Johnson Jr., and Cory Williams; godfather, Michael Williams; grandparents, Myrtle E. Jackson, Hartwell, W. Va. and Gladys Johnson of New York City, N.Y.; paternal grandparent, Bob Minor; one niece, Shanika Johnson; and a host of other relatives and friends. JONES, Lessie Gravely, 85, of Radford, passed away Thursday, June 23, 1994 in Heritage Hall in Blacksburg. She was preceded in death by her husband, Roy C. Jones and one daughter, Minnie Barnett. Survivors include five sons and daughters-in-law, Roy J. and JoAnn Jones of Fairlawn, Bobby L. and Vicki Jones of Murfreesboro, Tenn., David H. and Barbara Jones of Roanoke, Donald G. and Pam Jones of Hardy, and Donnie J. ST.CLAIR, Elias Howard, 80, of Clairmont Hills in Princeton, W.Va., died Thursday, June 23, 1994, at his residence. Born June 17, 1914 in Bedford County, Va., he was the son of the late Joseph B. and Ada Walker St.Clair. He was the owner of Days Inn in Princeton, W.Va. He was the former owner of St.Clair Foods and Natures Best Food in Princeton. He had been an active member of the First Baptist Church in Princeton for the past 45 years serving in several positions including Sunday School Teacher, Deacon, Board of Trustees and a variety of committee assignments. He attended Bluefield College and was currently serving on the Board of Trustees of the College. He was a former member of the Board of Directors of Reach Out Ministries, Virginia Baptist Board in Richmond and the Religious Herald. He also was a former member of the Board of Trustees of Southeastern Baptist Theological Seminary in Wake Forest, N.C. and Virginia Intermont College in Bristol, Va. He was a veteran of World War II serving in the U.S. Army. He has been a resident of Princeton since 1948 moving here from Richmond, Va. He was preceded in death by four brothers and two sisters. Survivors include his wife, Catherine Scott St.Clair of Princeton, W.Va.; one son, Dr. Howard Barry St.Clair of Atlanta, Ga.; one daughter, Mrs. David (Catherine) Goodroe of Yorktown, Va.; two brothers, E. Henry St. Clair of Roanoke, and Rev. Walter St.Clair of Jacksonville, Fla.; one sister, Ethel Dowdy of Vinton; seven grandchildren. Funeral services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Saturday at the First Baptist Church in Princeton with Dr. David Dockery officiating. UMBERGER, Malcolm Lloyd, 83, of Wytheville, died Thursday, June 23, 1994 at the Wythe County Community Hospital. He was a resident of the Asbury Center-Birdmont in Wytheville, Va. He was preceded in death by his wife, Mary Baumgardner Umberger. He is survived by one daughter and son-in-law, Mildred and Bill Stafford, Radford; one son and daughter-in-law, M. Kent and Nancy Umberger, Greensboro, N. C.; one sister, Josephine Hedrick, Wytheville; one brother and sister-in-law, Ivan H. and Ruth Umberger, Wytheville; two granddaughters and husbands, Meredith U. and Chris Lappin, and Allison U. and Scott Naylor. Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Saturday at Mt. Pleasant United Methodist Church, with the Rev. Dale Wyrick presiding. VICK, Nancy Knick, 95, of Lexington, and widow of Norfleet W. Vick, died Wedesday, June 22, 1994, in Stonewall Jackson Hospital. She was born in Rockbridge County the daughter of the late Hugh Thomas Knick and Elizabeth Hostetter Knick. Mrs. Vick was the former owner and operator of the Nancy B Beauty Salon. Mrs. Vick was a member of the Kerrs Creek Baptist Church. In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by a son, Charles P. Engleman, Jr. Survivors include one granddaughter and her husband, Linda E. and James Christian of Lexington; two great- grandchildren, Tracey Anfinson of Goshen, Bobby Bartlett of Hampton; sister-in-law, Mrs. Clara Knick of Covington and several nieces and nephews. Mrs. Vick was the last surviving member of her immediate family. A memorial graveside service will be conducted in the Stonewall Jackson Cemetery at 11:00 a.m. Monday, June 27, with the Rev. WARD, Westley Lew, 38, of Natural Bridge, died Wednesday, June 22, 1994 in the Henrico Doctors Hospital, Richmond. Mr. Ward was born in Natural Bridge on April 14, 1956, a son of Ruth A. Ward on Natural Bridge. He was a member of the Seventh Day Adventist Church in Richmond, and was a sales agent with the Air Condition Supply Corporation in Richmond. In addition to his mother, he is survived by three children, Zabrina Y. Ward, Gerald L. Ward II, Si Wan L. Ward; five brothers, Clifford L. Ward, Severn, Md., Larry W. Ward, Natural Bridge, Gerald L. Ward, Richmond, Bradford O. Ward, Tokyo, Japan, Mitchell L. Ward, North Brunswick, N. J.; two sisters, Shelia L. Ward-Barney, Lexington, Shelly Ward Clark, Roanoke; special brother and sis ters, Clyde W. Brooks, Barbara Brooks Pearson and Iris J. Thompkins, all of New Jersey; seven nephews; and two great-nephews. WILEY, Aileen Chewning, 70, of Vinton, passed away Thursday, June 23, 1994. She was the widow of Eugene Wiley and was preceded in death by her parents, Mack and Mary Chewning, two sisters, Lula Chewning Westmoreland and Ruth Chewning Harris and a brother, Parrish Chewning. Surviving are a son, Wayne Harris of Hastings, Fla.; daughter and son-in-law, Brenda H. and Benjamin E. Presson of Roanoke; three granddaughters, Denise P. Stafford, Sharon P.
