Danielle Josephine Welch, of the 200 block of Nancy Drive, was in stable condition Friday in the orthopedic ward of Roanoke Memorial Hospital, according to a nursing supervisor. Police said Danielle was treated for a fractured left arm, burns and abrasions.
According to a police report, Danielle was playing in her wagon in the yard of her home at 4:44 p.m., when a 5-year-old boy got into an unlocked car that was parked nearby and knocked it out of gear.
A man who was leaving the girl's home saw the car rolling toward her but was unable to stop it.
