Marvin J. and Thelma B. Burnette celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary on June 18, 1994. The celebration was held at Westhampton Christian Church, Roanoke. It was hosted by the Friendship Club of the church. The couple were married June 18, 1934 at Richmond, Va. Marvin is a native of Roanoke, Thelma is a native of Richmond. She is the former Thelma Anne Brown. Their children are Marvin and Avis Burnette of Slidell, La., Phyllis and William Grose of Williamsburg, Betty and Jerre Ferguson of Orlando, Fla. Their other son, William A. Burnette is deceased (1984). His widow, Sue P. Burnette, was present. The couple has 12 grandchildren (8 attended) and 8 great-grandchildren (3 attended). He is retired from the Norfolk and Western Railway with 45 years of service. She is retired from Roanoke City Schools & Richmond City Schools with 27 years of teaching. Both Mr. & Mrs. Burnette belong to Westhampton Christian Church and have been volunteers at Lewis-Gale Hospital for 22 years. Thelma is a member of the Thursday Morning Music Club and Roanoke City Retired Teachers. Out-of-town guests attending the celebration included Bill and Christine Wright of England, near Oxford. Other guest were from Apopka and Orlando, Fla., Slidell, La., Norfolk, Va. Beach, Newport News, Williamsburg and Richmond.

Clifton anniversary
Emory Ewell and Frances Louise Clifton celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary on June 17, 1994. The celebration was held at Cave Spring Baptist Church and was hosted by their four daughters. The couple was married June 17, 1934, at Roanoke, Va. Mrs. Clifton is the former Frances Louise Lowry. The couple's children are Nancy Vannoy, Phoenix, Ariz., Betty Rhodenizer, Appomatox, Va., Gail Racey, Winchester, Va., Patricia Mathews, Charlottesville, Va. They have 11 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren. Mr. and Mrs. Clifton are both retired. They are members of Mt. Olive Primitive Baptist Church.
\ Creed anniversary
George Lewis and Lillian Creed celebrated their 50th anniversary on June 24, 1994. The celebration was held June 26, 1994, and was hosted by their family. The couple was married June 24, 1944, in Montgomery Co. where the couple have lived for 48 years. Mrs. Creed is the former Lillian Cox. They have a son, Robert Lewis Creed of Shawsville. They have three grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. Mr. Creed is retired from the railroad and Poff Construction Co. He is vice president of the Izaac Walton League. Mrs. Creed is retired from Leggetts and Christiansburg Garment Factory. She wrote for the Montgomery News Messenger for 15 years.
\ Edelman anniversary
Milton and Tillie Edelman celebrated their 55th wedding anniversary. They were married June 28, 1939 in the Bronx, New York City. They have lived in Roanoke since April, 1942. They have two daughters, Sue Proctor of Winthrop, Mass., and Sally Ann Edelman of Roanoke; and one grandson, Matthew Proctor.
\ Hartman anniversary
Marge and Bob Hartman celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary June 26th at St. John Lutheran Church, Roanoke. The celebration was hosted by their four children and spouses. The couple was married in Hackensack, N. J. on June 27, 1944, and lived in New Jersey until 1981. Mrs. Hartman is the former Marge Gray of Salem, Va. Their four children are Bob, Jr., from Lake Chetek, Wis., David of Salem, Va., Mrs. Jerrie Booth of Dallas, Texas, and Mark from Convent Station, N. J. Their four grandchildren are Kevin and Timothy Hartman of Salem and Gregory and Christopher Booth of Dallas, Texas. Mr. Hartman served in the United States Marine Corps from 1942-1946 and retired from New Jersey Bell in 1981. A second celebration will be held in New Jersey in July at the home of Mrs. Shirley Booth.
\ Humphreys anniversary
W. Clark and Marguerite F. Humphreys of Roanoke celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary on Saturday at a dinner with family members. They were married in Roanoke on July 1, 1934.
Mr. Humphreys was employed by Mick-or-Mack Stores for 36 years until his retirement in 1972. Mrs. Humphreys was an elementary school teacher in Roanoke for over 30 years.
Mr. and Mrs. Humphreys have been members of First Baptist Church in Roanoke for 53 years. They now have one daughter, Ann Howard, (daughter Nancy Jocher is deceased), four grandchildren and a great-grandchild.
\ Keffer anniversary| Mervin and Helen Keffer celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary June 30, 1994 in Charleston, S.C. where they spent their honeymoon. Mervin is retired from Times World Corp. and Helen from Community Hospital of Roanoke Valley.
\ Lottermoser Anniversary
Clarence A. and Beverly Lottermoser celebrated their 40th wedding anniversary on June 5, 1994, with a family dinner at the Coach & Four. ''Cal'' and ''Bev'' were married June 5, 1954, in Utica, New York. The Lottermoser's have lived in the Roanoke Valley for 16 years. Mr. Lottermoser retired from Grumman Emergency Products and is currently employed by CAPCO Machine Systems and also operates his own mechanical design firm, CAL CAD Drafting Services. The Lottermoser's children are Gary and Susan Lottermoser of Roanoke and Sheri and Victor Basham of Roanoke. They have one grandchild, Victoria Basham. The Lottermoser's long and successful marriage is attributed to their deep faith and commitment. Congratulations Mom & Dad! We love you.
