FAIFAX LEADS STATE IN HATE CRIMES

Fairfax County reported the highest number of hate crimes in Virginia in 1993, according to figures compiled by the state police for the FBI.

Fairfax County authorities reported 29 hate-motivated crimes, while Chesterfield County was next with 11.

Blacksburg, Virginia Tech and Virginia Beach each reported four hate crime4s, and Arlington and Stafford counties each had three.
