RETIREE DEAL DONE

A six-member legislative panel reached a late-night compromise Thursday on a $340 million settlement with federal and military retirees.

The agreement clears the way for a vote today on a five-year repayment plan for former federal employees whose pensions were taxed from 1985-88 under a state policy that was later declared illegal.
