POLICE SAY INTRUDER BROKE IN TO MAKE 900-NUMBER CALLS

Those 900 telephone numbers sure can be addictive. Bedford police said a man they arrested Saturday told them he broke into a house to make 900-number telephone calls.

Timothy Augustine Snead, 23, of Bedford, was found in a house on Orange Street by Officer M.G. Linton. Linton had noticed a broken window at the residence.

Snead was charged with breaking and entering while in possession of a deadly weapon - a knife. Chief Milton Graham said nothing was stolen from the home.

For a price, 900 numbers offer services such as telephone sex and horoscopes.

Graham could not say what services were called.
